The GasFindIR LW detects SF6 (Sulphur Hexafluoride), a gas used as at electric power plants as an insulator in circuit breakers and switchgear. SF6 is also used in magnesium production and semiconductor manufacturing. The camera enables inspectors and consultants at utilities or in manufacturing to proactively diagnose leaks of Sulfur Hexafluoride. The gas is expensive and harmful to the environment: it remains in the atmosphere for thousands of years and consequently has a 24,000-time higher global warming potential than CO2 emissions -- more than any other greenhouse gas.
